I went to one evening last week to catch up with old friends who have recently started working on ‘Cinderella’ with Julian Clary top of the bill playing Dandidi to be presented at Wolverhampton’s Theatre Grand. The Grand is a beautifully restored theatre originally designed by renowned theatre architect Charles Phipps which first opened in 1894. I spent a happy time in a Chinese Restaurant swapping stories and reminiscing about experiences shared with a band of scruffy looking actors and technicians complaining as they always do about the various rehearsal rooms where they were spending long hours of hard work or the inadequacy of theatre digs…
