To encourage active participation and engagement in arts. To promote and facilitate an active cultural involvement. We believe that art is for everyone .

To provide quality office space suitable for creative industries and community oriented ethical businesses.

· Support & training:

To provide access to business support and quality training facilities for tenants, and for the wider community.

· Education:

To create new opportunities for training in art, design and learning. To assist employment prospects for the local community.

· Local management:

To provide a locally-based management structure that involves the local community and seeks to reflect their needs.

History

The Burlsem Art School was founded as part of the Wedgwood Memorial Institute in 1869. It became a separate school with its own premises in February 1906. The building was situated opposite the Wedgwood Institute.

Burslem School of Art is a loving home for various local businesses. They all have one thing in common – a genuine care for local community and heritage.
